We will be creating pieces from fused glass pendants. Two more Beads2Jewelry emails will follow with pictures to suggest finished pieces, in which you.ll see crystals in a variety of colors and shapes also pearls combined with the glass pendants. These pieces were made by our branch and section member Marjorie Singler. As usual, the pictures are solely for inspiration. Your piece is . literally and figuratively . what you make of it.
Marjorie has been extremely helpful in planning for the July 7 meeting. For example, she will offer for purchase some of her fused glass pendants. Her pieces run between $10 and $20. You can check with her for more information; her email is msingler@comcast.net. She has also researched sites for pendants, and I.ve attached a list of sites she.s found that might lead you to glass pendants you like.
The other supplies you need to incorporate a pendant into a necklace depend upon whether you choose a design based on stringing or wirework. For stringing, your supplies will include (1) a pendant, (2) any crystals, stones, pearls, beads or spacers you want to add, (3) flexible beading wire, (4) a closing of your choice (a toggle or lobster clasp, for example), (5) crimp beads or scrimps, and (6) jump rings.
The supplies for wirework are (1) a pendant, (2) your chain, (3) any crystals, stones, pearls, beads or spacers you want to add between links of your chain, (4) wire or headpins for adding those crystals or other accents, (5) a closing of your choice, and (6) jump rings.
Also bring the usual tools: wire cutters; round nose pliers; chain nose pliers (inside surfaces are flat); and crimping pliers. Bent nose pliers are also useful.
Bring your own lunch or snack to the meeting. Drinks will be provided.
